DESCRIPTION: This image is an antique engraving titled "Fighting Horses," featuring an ominous scene of two horses engaged in a fierce battle under a cloudy sky.  Artwork Details: This is a vintage print based on the work of artist ‘Mr Spilsbury' depicting intense animal scenes. Engraver: The print is engraved by J. Caldwall, as noted in the bottom right corner of the image. Inscription: The scene includes the text "Tis said they eat each other," a Shakespearean phrase explaining the unnatural scene that occurs in William Shakespeare's Macbeth (Act 2, Scene 4), viz King Duncan’s magnificent horses turning wild, breaking their stalls, and reportedly attacking one another....’ROSS: And Duncan’s horses (a thing most strange and certain) Beauteous and swift, the minions of their race, Turn’d wild in nature, broke their stalls, flung out, Contending ’gainst obedience, as they would make War with mankind.
