Pluscarden Abbey Interior of the North Transept

DESCRIPTION: This is a beautiful 19th-century engraving of Pluscarden Abbey, specifically showing the interior of the North Transept as a romantic ruin, highlighting its Gothic architecture. The large circular "rose window" opening in the transept is a signature feature of Pluscarden. It was drawn by Robert William Billings (1813–1874), a renowned architect and artist known for his detailed illustrations of Scottish ecclesiastical architecture. This illustration was originally published in the four-volume work titled The Baronial and Ecclesiastical Antiquities of Scotland (published between 1845 and 1852).
